One of My Favorite Things: Frozen Chocolate Drink

When I get the chance to go to a Godiva store, I really enjoy their Dark Chocolate Decadence Frozen drink.  Mmmh... it's so good!   Since I can't get there that often, I decided to make my own version.  After watching the store clerk make one and a little guesswork on my part, I created an easy to make at home version that's delicious!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Frozen Dark Chocolate Shake:

Ingredients:
8 Large Ice Cubes
8 oz. Whole Milk
3 1/2 Tbsp hot cocoa powder (Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Hot Cocoa)
5 chocolate chips, very small handful (Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Chips)

Optional: whipped cream, maraschino cherries, bendy straw, one of those plastic monkeys that hang on martini glasses

I bought all these at the local grocery store.  I'm sure any dark chocolate hot cocoa mix and dark chocolate chips would have a similar result.  For some reason I found that using one tray full of my penguin ice cubes had the best result.  I don't know if it's the shape or that I used purified water when I filled them?  This may need further investigation....   I will say the penguins make me happy, but it's much easier to use the automatic ice maker in the freezer.

Directions:
1. Put ice cubes in blender.
2. Fill milk up to 1/4 liter, 8oz line.
3. Add hot cocoa powder.
4. Put on lid and get chocolate chips ready to go.
5. Turn on blender to high, open top just enough to add chips and close until blended. (I find the chips get chopped up better when added while blender is on, but please be safe.)

Pour and enjoy!
